Foundations in Media Psychology: Course and Curriculum

The objective of this chapter is to provide the rationale and content necessary to develop a foundation course in media psychology. Following is a brief overview of media psychology and a discussion of its importance and potential, as well as information on related career and professional opportunities. A primary focus is on neuropsychology and media communications, including a discussion of synesthesia, semiotics, and semantics as they couple, thereby fostering perception and understanding. In addition, the chapter identifies foundational concepts and theories in media psychology and includes an example syllabus for a foundation course and specialty curriculum in media psychology. Media psychology is foundational in the evolution of artificial intelligence.
