Sustainable Mobility for the Sustainable Development of Modern Urban Agglomerations

The current level of development of information and communication technologies opens up new opportunities for the further development of society and leads to an increase in the quality of life. In such conditions, people’s priorities and preferences for the organization of living space are changing, which leads to the need to form sustainable systems and develop sustainable mobility. Sustainable mobility is especially relevant for urban agglomerations due to the presence of traffic congestion, noise, traffic accidents, and high levels of emissions of harmful substances. An analysis of statistical data showed that transport is the largest consumer of energy and occupies a leading role in global emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In this regard, significant attention should be paid to the development of sustainable transport systems. We consider the potential of sustainable transport systems based on social and environmental transformation as a key aspect for the development of sustainable mobility and the creation of safe, environmentally friendly, and comfortable living conditions for citizens. The development of a sustainable transport system should be based on increasing the functionality and accessibility of public transport, as well as on changing the structure of “supply chains” focused on a wide range of consumer preferences, facilities, and personalized mobility services. As a result of system analysis, a complex of directions and technical and technological solutions has been formed, focused on improving the efficiency of implementing sustainable mobility strategies, which is of a universal nature. For specific cities and urban agglomerations, a set of measures and technical and technological solutions for the development of sustainable mobility should be developed taking into account their characteristics and strategic goals of such cities, with a focus on the priority development of public transport and shared access to personal transport.
