General Overview and Brief Physical Discussion of Two Recent Dynamic Models of Amorphous Condensed Matter

A general theoretical and practical overview and brief physical discussion is given of two recent approaches to the dynamics of amorphous condensed matter—Ngai’s coupling model or correlation (CM) and Götze’s mode coupling theory (MCT)Götze’s mode coupling theory (MCT)—which will in Chap.  10 be related and compared with the newly proposed cooperative theory of materials dynamics (CTMD)Cooperative Theory of Materials Dynamics (CTMD). Other relevant recent approaches are not so explicitly included in this overview, being left to very brief references in the final section of Chap.  10 .
