The Application of the Modified QFD Method for Assessing and Selecting Suppliers in a Company

In today's business environment, companies face a variety of challenges related to dynamic changes in the environment, such as employee shortages, disruptions in supply chains, changes in markets and the development of digital sales technologies. A key element of effective functioning and adaptation to these conditions is the assessment and proper selection of suppliers and building lasting relationships with them. This has a significant impact on operational efficiency and the ability to adapt to dynamic changes on the market. By properly assessing suppliers, the company can not only minimize the risk of disruptions in the supply chain, but also build a lasting foundation for the company's competitiveness. The article focuses on the use of the modified QFD (Quality Function Deployment) method in the supplier evaluation and selection process. The modification involves using the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method to assess the requirements of enterprises towards suppliers. The work includes three key categories of functional requirements for assessing suppliers: basic, digital and innovation. The most important functional requirements are: “number of defects” in the basic category, “ordering method” and “security of transaction” in the digital category and “correctness of picking” with innovation category. The use of the AHP method in QFD allows enterprises not only to minimize the risk of disruptions in the supply chain, but also to build the foundations of competitiveness. To sum up, the article presents the practical application of the AHP method in the supplier selection process, which is important for the efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises.
