Achalasia in a Poor Surgical Candidate

An 82-year-old man with achalasia presented for worsening of his symptoms. Workup revealed a large esophageal diverticulum. Due to his age and multiple comorbidities, he was a poor surgical candidate. This chapter discusses the management of achalasia in patients who cannot undergo surgery.
