Achalasia Masquerading as Reflux

A 71-year-old woman presents with reflux symptoms. Upper endoscopy showed a dilated and tortuous esophagus, raising suspicion for an esophageal motility disorder. This chapter describes the ensuing workup of a patient with this finding and how to manage the diagnosis that was ultimately uncovered.
