摘要

This study investigates the pelvic floor muscle (PFM) activities during performing movements mimicking the Muslim prayer, also known as Salat. The PFM activities were compared to the maximal voluntary contraction. In this study, ten sets of electromyography (EMG) data were collected from the perineum of 10 male subjects (aged between 22 to 52 years old) while performing a total of three phases mimicking Salat posture and movements. It was found that there was a significant activation of the pelvic floor muscles observed when performing the Salat posture and movements. Despite the significant activation of the pelvic floor muscles, muscle contraction during Salat showed lower intensity. Based on the findings of this preliminary study, movements mimicking Salat are suggested to have significant benefits on pelvic floor muscle.
