A Compact Flexible Wideband Antenna with Low SAR for Biomedical Applications

In this paper the 55x34x1 mm textile antenna has been designed and fabricated. The proposed design shows a high-performance in measurement and simulation results in free space and on human body as it operated at 2.4 GHz and wide bandwidth 58.3% and 7 dBi gain and a low SAR 0.4 W/kg for 10 g and 1.5 W/kg for 1 g. Due to the obtained results and its lightweight the proposed antenna is a perfect candidate for a wireless body area network (WBAN) applications and suitable to implement in cloths and in cloth accessories.The approach of slot on antenna substrate gives the antenna two advantages,the lightweight and the ability to be included in the cloth accessories and forked inside its folds without affecting the performance of the antenna.
