Partially Automatic Detection of Mental and Panoramic Mandibular Indexes for Diagnosis of Osteoporosis in Clinical and Medieval Samples
摘要
The main focus of this paper is to explore the possibility of partial automatic detection and calculation of mental and panoramic mandibular indexes, which in term give valuable information towards osteoporosis diagnosis. Two databases were analyzed, from each, at random, ten images were selected. Afterwards, MATLAB was used for algorithm realization. Moreover, mean and standard deviation mental and panoramic mandibular indexes of each sample were calculated and compared to ranges found in literature. In conclusion, the calculated values fit into the defined ranges and coincide with those from literature.
