Assembling a Christian View of Homosexual Citizenship

  • Laura Ramsay

摘要

This chapter explores the pre-history of church discussions about same-sex desire, which led towards Anglican support for homosexual law reform and the Church of England Moral Welfare Council’s submissions to the Departmental Committee on Homosexual Offences and Prostitution in the 1950s. It draws out longer traditions and patterns in Anglican thinking about homosexuality from church commentators’ various attempts to address the issue throughout the 1920s and 1930s, as well as examining the development of approaches towards homosexual citizenship within the church’s moral welfare organisations during the 1940s and early 1950s.
