Introduction

This chapter discusses existing historical understandings about secularisation and the rise of new ideas and approaches towards sexuality across the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It introduces the author’s main arguments, the challenges of determining church teaching on sexual issues, and the various ways in which the development and impact of Anglican thought and action is traced throughout the book.
