Specifics of Sustainable Development of Medical Tourism in South Korea

This article discusses the experience of medical tourism development in South Korea. The goal of the work lies in analyzing the specifics of medical tourism and identifying features of its sustainable development in the country under consideration. The research assumes exploration of specifics of the demand for medical and wellness services, analysis of the statistical metrics, and detection of the changes in the evolution process. This work emphasizes imperfect aspects of the system bordering the steady positive trends. It reveals a noticeable contrast between the potential and demand, proficiency in application of advanced technologies, high quality of education, and unequal allocation of the human resources. The authors use a wide spectrum of information analysis methods, disclosing some additional qualitative arrangements for promoting medical tourism as one of the leading niche tourism options in South Korea.
