Application of the SLP Methodology to Improve Distribution in a Wood Furniture Factory
摘要
The work was focused on a wood furniture manufacturing company, due to the growing demand for furniture, the company seeks to improve productivity to meet this demand and be competitive in the market. In order to meet the growing demand, two alternative plant layouts were proposed using the SLP (Systematic Layout Planning) methodology; to increase production capacity distances were reduced. After analyzing several factors such as land availability, accessibility, costs, safety and more, it has been determined that alternative 1, which integrates all production areas on a single level, is the preferred choice due to its advantages in terms of efficiency and costs. Finally, an economic analysis was performed with alternative 1 being the most convenient, giving us positive results, the financial analysis reveals a positive NPV (Net Present Value) of 584,815 Peruvian soles (Peruvian currency), indicating that the projected revenues exceed the initial costs, suggesting that the project can be profitable and beneficial for the company. This new plant design seeks to improve efficiency and productivity in the wood furniture industry in Peru.
