摘要

Tissue engineering (TE) provides an alternative approach to substitute the conventional grafting technique for restoring or replacing the damaged and diseased parts of the body. It is widely believed that the vast biodiversity of the marine ecosystem has rich potential and can be explored for various biomedical applications. The organic biomaterials fabricated from marine creatures have various advantages due to their excellent biocompatible, biodegradable, and bioactive property. Presently, marine-based organic compounds have wide application in biomedical sciences, which includes wound healing, orthopedic application, drug delivery system, cosmetic application, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, etc. Nonetheless, the huge potentials of the aquatic environment are yet to be extensively explored to recognize its full importance in the tissue engineering field. Herein, we will discuss some of the recent marine-derived ECM-based biomaterials and their scope for tissue regeneration application.
