Protein and Polyester Nanofibers Produced by Solution Blow Spinning to Mimic the Native Extracellular Matrix

摘要

The need for biomedical devices that can mimic the intricate structures of tissues remains a key challenge. Micro- and nanofibrous matrices, particularly those produced by electrospinning, have gained prominence due to their unique properties, such as high surface area and interconnected porosity, which enable efficient cell response, drug delivery, and mechanical support for cell growth. Despite the successes of electrospinning, limitations remain, prompting the exploration of alternative methods such as solution blow spinning (SBS). This chapter provides an overview of the recent advances in fibrous matrices produced for solution blow spinning (SBS) as scaffolds for tissue repair. It examines the parameters of the technique, and presents SBS as a promising and efficient alternative for creating biomimetic structures based on protein and polyesters for tissue engineering and medical devices.
