Understanding the Experiences of a Health Psychologist
摘要
In this chapter, the discussion focuses on the topic of patient engagement and the different definitions and interpretations often used to explain this concept. Patient engagement is ever evolving, and there are many possibilities for how effective engagement can be beneficial for all stakeholders both now and in the future. The concept of patient engagement has changed in the last decade, and pharmaceutical companies are establishing a framework to further enhance effective engagement in a efficient and resourceful way. Patient organisations and long-term collaboration opportunities are endless, and potential future innovation opportunities are anticipated. Patient engagement has many different attributes associated with it, which should be considered when trying to fit patient engagement into strategic planning. There is no set blueprint, but one that is flexible and adaptable to the teams and the situation. Ultimately, the premise of patient engagement is to consider the stakeholder who is going to be using the treatment and product, who is an important part of the research and development process and who should always be part of the discussion.
