Educational Leaders Foregrounding Equity, Inclusion, and Justice in Education
摘要
In today’s challenging and complex world, educational leaders need to be informed by a conceptual framework that addresses the need for education to be the catalyst for global equity, prosperity, and peace. In this chapter, I first briefly discuss the need for a new paradigm of educational leadership that reflects a critical stance. I then demonstrate the need for a holistic and comprehensive conceptual framework that draws on multiple perspectives and disciplines. In the second half of the chapter, I examine numerous conceptual frameworks traditionally advanced for educational leadership and ultimately posit that a framework grounded in the need for critique and transformation is the most suitable for advancing positive change toward equity, inclusion, and social justice. Thus, I reprise parts of my chapter from the first edition of the handbook to elucidate the concept of transformative leadership as one useful approach to addressing injustice.
