As occurs with other medical and scientific domains, surgery is a highly dynamic field. Even the most up-to-date texts cannot compete with the deluge of new information appearing on paper and electronically on a daily basis. That’s why the internet has converted not only into an option but a mandatory companion of every responsible professional. However, this same internet can be a treacherous friend, as it is flooded by blatant commercialism and fake news. With the advent of generative artificial intelligence (ChatGPT and similars), even more dangerous pitfalls could emerge. In this sense due diligence is obligatory, particularly concerning surgical videos, preferring sites, and data from recognized societies and institutions. The current chapter represents such an attempt; however, the possibility still exists that incorrect or dated information could occasionally creep inside it. Confirmation by other reliable sources is therefore advised, whenever feasible.
