摘要

Damage control laparotomy is a surgical technique that has gained increasing attention and importance over the past few decades in the management of critically injured patients. It is a staged surgical approach aimed at controlling hemorrhage and contamination in patients with severe abdominal trauma. The primary goal of damage control laparotomy is to provide rapid and effective resuscitation and hemostasis, followed by definitive repair at a later stage. This book chapter will discuss the principles, indications, and techniques of damage control laparotomy, as well as the potential complications and outcomes associated with this procedure. The chapter will also provide an overview of the current literature and guidelines related to damage control laparotomy, with the aim of helping surgeons to make informed decisions when managing critically injured patients.
