Ballast Water Management System Related Electrical Systems and Instrumentation

Unless specifically stipulated otherwise by the IMO, the electrical systems and electrical equipment used by the ballast water management system are to be in accordance with the relevant electrical requirements of the applicable Class Rules. Special consideration may be given to the equipment discussed in the section Additional arrangements for the placement of electrical equipment in hazardous areas of this chapter. To that end, this chapter discusses the main provisions relating to the design and operation of those electrical systems employed by the ballast water management system.
