Legal Practice of In Situ Biodiversity Conservation in China: From the Perspective of Nature Reserves

In situ conservation is an important measure for the coordinated conservation of species resources, genetic resources, and ecosystems in China’s biodiversity conservation, which not only has the function of conserving wildlife species and regional natural ecosystems but also pays attention to the protection of the rights and interests of different stakeholders, and the establishment of a nature reserve system with national parks as the main body has become an important part of the on-site conservation of biodiversity in China in the new era. Under the background of the new era, this chapter takes the nature reserve system as the perspective to systematically analyze the legal practice of biodiversity conservation in place in China. This chapter will systematically discuss the legal system of nature reserves, including national parks, the administrative supervision and management system of nature reserves, and the judicial protection of nature reserves. At the end of this chapter, a brief discussion will be made on the challenges and future development direction of the rule of law in China’s biodiversity conservation in situ.
