Geriatric Surgical Hospital Care Model
摘要
The demographic inevitability of the aging population requires surgeons to build processes to provide age-friendly hospital care for older adults undergoing inpatient surgical procedures. Currently, nearly 40% of all inpatient operations in the United States are performed on individuals aged 65 years and older, a percentage that is expected to progressively increase in future years [1]. Older adults are not only the most common age group undergoing inpatient operations, but they are also the most vulnerable to adverse postoperative outcomes [2].
