The University of Wisconsin-Madison Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute Dementia Diagnostic Clinic Network

The University of Wisconsin (UW)-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) established the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute (WAI) Dementia Diagnostic Clinic Network in 1998 to improve the diagnosis and management of dementia in Wisconsin. The network offers interdisciplinary diagnostic services, education, and consultation to assist healthcare providers in delivering quality dementia diagnosis and care management. The model’s effectiveness is demonstrated by high-quality dementia care delivery and performance on quality measures. The WAI model demonstrates flexibility in adapting to diverse community needs and cultural backgrounds, offering tailored support and resources, particularly in underserved populations. Overall, the chapter underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and ongoing education in improving dementia diagnosis and care management.
