摘要

There has been an important shift in the higher education literature from a focus on ill-being to well-being. Well-being has a complex nature that is related to a wide range of psychosocial and academic outcomes. To exhibit the best academic performance, it is important for students to feel happy, content, and healthy with themselves and their school environment. This chapter seeks to present theoretical and practical bases of well-being that emphasise the importance of promoting and supporting well-being in schools. School-related stress has been found to negatively affect students’ physical, mental and emotional health, well-being, and academic performance. Prioritizing well-being in school can lead to better psychological health and academic achievement. School-based prevention and intervention programs that focus on the well-being school environment can contribute to student psychological outcomes. Students should be supported to discover their personal strengths that are necessary for important developments emerging throughout school life.
