A Complicated Relationship

With the travel writing genre facing a period of recalibration in the post-COVID era, this chapter observes, from a subjective perspective, the influence of travel writing on the craft of a practitioner with expertise in both the professional and academic realms of the form. The chapter then examines the re-thinking that occurs throughout the history of travel writing to make a positive claim for what might be learned from this most recent era of uncertainty.
