International Standards and Recommendations
摘要
As noted in the previous chapters, concrete alkali content is a major factor determining expansion due to alkali-silica reaction (ASR). Limiting concrete alkali loading is imperative to reduce the risk of deleterious ASR development in structures, whenever potentially alkali-reactive or alkali-reactive aggregates are used in the concrete. Therefore, this chapter provides a brief overview of the current panorama on standards and recommendations regarding alkali content in concrete. If focuses on standards and recommendations that specify limits for concrete alkali loading and highlights the main standards and recommendations for determining the alkali content of concrete constituents and hardened concrete. The procedures for the analyses and, whenever available, alkali content limiting values for concrete constituents, are also presented.
