Liberal Preppers
摘要
This chapter includes my extensive survey data and digital ethnography of “prepper” communities on social media whom I observed and interacted with for five years. One of the distinguishing features of liberal preppers versus conservative preppers (aside from their politics) is how they imagine the world to end, and what role humans play in that eschatology. As I will demonstrate, the liberal prepper communities make a significant departure from their conservative or right-wing counterparts—which do indeed dominate the prepper landscape—and have a particular ethic of caretaking that is worth noting.
