Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship Need Business Incubators

This chapter discusses the life sciences business incubator model, ranging from a discussion of the incubator model to the nature of the startups within it. We then take an in-depth look at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center as an example of a successful life sciences accelerator/incubator and one about which we have particular knowledge. Business incubators, however, depend on entrepreneurs and their startup companies. In this section, we begin with a look at that.
