“Starting It: Why I Started a Life Sciences Incubator”

  • Timothy M. Block

摘要

In this chapter is the human story around why the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center (PABC) was started. The goal of a business incubator is, nominally, to nurture startup companies. But there is a rich personal story behind the PABC. It starts with an ambition to cure a disease because of personal needs and then describes how work from Philadelphia to Oxford labs in the time of biotechnology and entrepreneurship revolutions made the creation of the PABC a surprisingly logical solution to the problem of funding the Hepatitis B Foundation.
