Advanced MIMO Antenna Design with Defected Ground Structure for 5G NR (N75 and N77) Applications

In the current 4-element rectangular slots, they are arranged at the four corners of the FR-4 substrate material with 40 mm × 40 mm compact size. The four patches are arranged one orthogonal to other and back side of the ground plane considered as monopole ground plane for obtaining the better mutual coupling. The designed structure covers the wavelength of n 77 (90–70 mm) and n 78 (90–70 mm) bands with S11 ≤ − 10 dB in operating region and S21 ≤ − 20 dB. For the current design structure, it produces the better MIMO parameters of ECC, MEG, DG, and CCL within operating region wavelength at 90 mm. A better MIMO radiator system well designed between 4 ports to improve isolation and enhance antenna performance is a crucial challenge in high performance MIMO systems.
