Enhancing Optical MIMO System Performance Through Optical Multiplexing and Amplification

摘要

This research presents an innovative MIMO data transmission system designed for optimum performance over multimode fibers using MGDM spatial multiplexing technology. The main objectives of this system are to maximize transmission capacity and signal quality. This study focuses on the precise optimization of input and output parameters to improve signal quality. In addition, to overcome chromatic and modal dispersion during transmission, a sophisticated transmission chain consisting of three interconnected subsystems has been proposed, improving signal stability over longer distances. Integrating two EDFA Amplifiers mitigates signal attenuation issues across a 2000 m cable. Through simulations covering a 2 km distance, the proposed 3 × 3 MIMO system achieves a commendable total data rate of approximately 3.6 Gb/s, with each user enjoying a 1.2 Gb/s data rate. A key aspect of the research involves a comparative analysis of the BER and Quality Factor performance between the system with and without optical amplifiers, demonstrating the efficacy of amplification in enhancing signal quality.
