Spatially Efficient MIMO Antenna Design Using Photonic Crystal and Polyimide Substrate

At the THz frequency range, the modern advanced ultra-high speed and smart wearable devices required highly efficient, low profile, and low-cost radiator designed with high directionality propagation loss addressed. In this work, it presented photonic crystal MIMO structure with high gain, better mutual coupling and a novel shape designed. The designed structure based on the photonic bandgap crystal with polymide substrate which produces the better isolation and then highly satisfy VSWR < 1.0 at 0.636 THz region. The performance related to designed structure is studied for various geometrical structures and the corresponding results are verified on the substrate of polyimide. For the proposed structure variations of various effects on PBG unit cells are achieved S11 and S21 are -27.13 dB and -35.11 dB. Based on the resonant frequency, the designed structure applicable to the application areas include imaging and sensing.
