Mechanical Performance of MEAM Polymer Under Different Loading Conditions

Rapid development of additive manufacturing technologies employed nowadays with main type of structural materials—metals, ceramics and polymers—raised new challenges for mechanics of materials. This is especially true for material extruded additively manufactured (MEAM) structures, produced mostly with polymers. As a result of layerwise deposition, the manufactured parts combine the features of materials and structures, with the latter defined by the process of filament deposition resulting in a complex microarchitecture. Additionally, their resultant mechanical properties are highly sensitive to (small) changes in process parameters. The chapter describes the effects of manufacturing on various properties of MEAM polymer and provides experimental data for various loading regimes.
