Photo-Monitoring of Vegetation in Warszawicki Channel—Citizen Science Project Results

The article discusses the significance of vegetation in rivers and channels, focusing on the case of the Warszawicki channel located in central Poland. It presents the outcomes of vegetation photo-monitoring conducted as part of the BRITEC citizen science project involving students from primary and secondary schools. The project offered several pilot citizen science initiatives. One aimed to observe seasonal changes in river vegetation across Poland, introducing citizen science into schools to enhance students’ understanding of natural environmental conditions. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of citizen science in monitoring riverine and riparian vegetation, engaging ordinary citizens in scientific research, and providing valuable data for further analysis.
