It sounds like a romantic fairy tale. The truth is quite different. With luck, the government can secure an excellent economic adviser. There are no guarantees. With so many factors in addition to competence in economics needed for this job, selecting among possible candidates is not easy. A good grasp of the ‘economics’ chapter (Chap. 5 ) is the best preparation.
