Greed and Ignorance

At the time of writing this book, the need for better public policy in many countries is there for all to see. Inflation is widespread and persistent. Basic elements of the world economy and national economies like food and energy are under stress. Meeting current needs and at the same time addressing the climate challenge appears to be impossible. Wars in Europe and elsewhere, catastrophic in themselves, have major economic spillovers. Politicians who aspire to more than power, to improving things, face an enormous challenge. Few matters are purely economic, but most issues have an economic element. Recognising that there is knowledge out there is the first step. This is no do-it-yourself job. It calls for expertise. The task of finding a suitable economics adviser is not easy.
