The Numerical Simulation of Wind Environment in Coastal Areas of Xiamen

In this study, the wind environment of the sea area in Xiamen bay-type urban area were studied by numerical simulation method, taking Southeast Region of Xiamen Island as the research object. The terrain model around Xiamen was extracted by ArcGIS and pre-post with Rhino. Then, the numerical simulation research was carried in FLUENT with the inlet profile of velocity and turbulence statistics specified by UDF(User-Defined Function). The influence of different inlet terrain wind filed type, computational domain size, sea surface roughness and land roughness refinement were discussed in detail. The results show that the canyon effect occurs when the wind speed passes through the sea channel due to the influence of both sides of the strait. In addition, the refinement of land roughness can cause significant changes in the wind speed of land and its downstream waters. The wind profile coefficients on the south side of Xiang’an are less affected by the factors investigated in this study, while the gradient wind height is mainly influenced by the inlet conditions, implying the great importance of field measurement of inlet profile.
