War and Peace Through a Feminist Lens: The Need for a Gender-Responsive, Humanitarian Approach for ‘Conflict Resolutions’ and ‘Peace Processes’
摘要
The role of feminism through a gender-responsive approach to peace achievement or conflict resolution is examined in this chapter. Additionally, the relevance of incorporating different perspectives as those of women and other marginalised groups while examining social phenomena such as war and ‘peace’ will be highlighted. Recent global crises like COVID-19, environmental adversities and geopolitical tensions have motivated this contribution. Therefore, the present exploration adopted a qualitative approach to analyse the existing literature referring to war, ‘peace’ and ‘security’ which has been amplified by the insights of the feminist theoretical perspectives. The results of the examination provided in this chapter offer both novel and important insights into the necessity for a humanitarian and gender-responsive approach to security during conflict resolution and peacebuilding processes. These results also indicate the critical urgency for the development and implementation of social-political reforms to ensure equality, inclusion, and social justice. Overall, these results indicate that a genuine achievement of global peace cannot coexist with any kind of ongoing human suffering.
