This chapter outlines the comprehensive methodology employed in the study, encompassing four primary stages: data collection and processing, creation of modeled scenarios, modeling, and risk analysis. The initial stage involves gathering crucial datasets like Digital Elevation Models (DEM), cadastral and infrastructure maps, and on-site observations, leading to the creation of detailed orthophotos and DEMs. In the scenario creation phase, variations in landslide features such as release area, volume, and flow viscosity are considered. The modeling stage uses the r.avaflow tool for runout modeling, adapting parameters for realistic scenario simulation. The risk analysis incorporates exposure and vulnerability assessments, quantifying potential economic impacts based on land use classes and their respective damage factors. This methodology integrates advanced GIS tools and empirical data to create accurate landslide models, essential for effective hazard mapping and risk assessment in the study areas. The general methodology of the project consists of 4 main stages. The Data Collection and Processing (Sect. 2.1), which consists of the basic data collection and preparation. Following, in Sect. 2.2 (Creation of Modeled Scenarios), the modelling scenarios are defined. In the third step (Sect. 2.3: Modelling), the runout is modeled for each of the scenarios and parameter combinations (conservative \(\times \) catastrophic). Finally, in Sect. 2.4: (Risk analyses), the risk analysis associated with each scenario is calculated.
