Conserving and Governing the Ocean

Fortunately, I am not alone in my concern for the ocean and before me many others have been concerned, much more effectively and capably, to formulate proposals aimed at conserving the ocean and achieving its good governance. Rebuilding marine life is a grand challenge, but a doable one, that requires ambitious action along five axes: protect species, protect spaces, harvest wisely, remove pollution and mitigate climate change (Duarte et al. 2020). But most of all, it requires perseverance and tenacity in never giving up on the vision to recover an ocean abundant with life.
