摘要

The kinematics of the scapholunate and carpus as a whole is still under study. Essentially, it is conditioned by the interaction between the carpal and adjacent bones, a complex ligamentary system, and the forces that pass through the wrist. Other factors, such as bone morphology and ligament laxity, affect it to a greater or lesser extent. Scapholunate injuries are the primary cause of carpal instability. However, despite their high frequency in daily practice, no technique considers the gold standard for treating these injuries. This is possibly due to the lack of complete knowledge of scapholunate kinematics and, thus, a surgical technique that restores normal anatomy and kinematics.
