Named Entity Recognition
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of named entity recognition (NER) from biomedical text, which is an algorithmic approach to identifying the span of text that represents medical concepts and their class. Readers familiar with the general domain NER would observe parallels in the methodology discussed here, and the differences and challenges with the biomedical text. The chapter introduces NER using biomedical examples, and provides references to the existing studies, approaches used, and available resources for evaluating the NER methods.
