Cultural versus Personal Power: Willpower Close to Madness—Charting My Own Path Toward My Dreams

This chapter is an auto-ethnographical exploration of perceived power throughout my life, and how I responded to that and exercised my personal agency. While our lives are shaped by cultural, political, and economic forces, we respond to those forces and navigate toward our personal aims and dreams in myriad ways. Even as a child, we may witness, identify, and reject the violence and wrongs in our society.
