Salivary Gland Infections or Sialadenitis

All the salivary gland infections are call sialadenitis. But we can divide it into two different parts: the parenchyma infection or sialadenitis and the duct infection or sialodochitis. We will treat the most common infections. Three parts are in this chapter, we first study the principal infections call sialadenitis, also the idiopathic dilatation of the excretory duct (acute and chronic) and then the sialodochitis with the parotid and submandibular lithiasis. We give samples how to recognize a lithiasis in parotid or submandibular gland and also how to treat them with the help of ultrasound machine. At the end, we will study the sialosis and principally the sialoadenosis such as with food trouble, diabetes and alcoholism and the systemic sialosis such as Sjogrën’s syndrome, IgG4 disease, and damage due to the iodine treatment for thyroid cancer.
