Congenital Foot Deformities

This chapter will review some of the more common congenital foot and ankle deformities among children. Many of these deformities have a genetic influence while others may arise secondary to a failure in differentiation in utero. A complete pediatric history and physical exam is key in excluding any neurologic component. Some secondary diagnoses may not be identified at birth and may require monitoring as the child develops.
