摘要

Medicine is unique in that it is an art and a science. How MAI will affect medicine’s unique nature is still an open question. I argue that in order to assess the ethical implications of MAI, we have to focus on its impact in terms of transforming medicine and healthcare as we know it. In this chapter, I provide my basic understanding of MAI as a transformative force that changes what we do, how we encounter each other, and the structures we act in. Hence, the ethical analysis in the following chapters will focus on three impact areas of MAI, which are practices, relationships, and environments. The chapter closes with an overview of the structure, topics, and limitations of the book.
