Albert Schweitzer’s Philosophy of Culture and Spiritual Awakening

The purpose of this chapter is to reveal the ideas to understand Albert Schweitzer’s philosophy of civilization as a process of spiritual awakening, which, even today, has immense vigor in the themes of multiculturalism and in the relations of Christianity with other religions. Albert Schweitzer (1875–1965) was a multifaceted thinker: theologian, doctor, missionary, philosopher, and musician, who unfortunately seems to be somewhat forgotten today. However, his work is an expression of a culture of peace and tolerance and is therefore fundamental at all times.
