摘要

An accurate assessment of the male penile erection has always been an important aspect in the management of erectile dysfunction. However, it is critically important for performing penile hemodynamic studies, in which objective, reliable, and reproducible analysis of the penile rigidity is warranted. The amount of intracavernous vasoactive agents depends on sequential assessments of the erection hardness. The Erection Hardness Scale (EHS) is the most important and the recommended tool for rigidity analysis during penile Doppler ultrasound (PDU) examinations, although instruments such as other validated questionnaires, nocturnal penile tumescence testing, axial rigidity assessment with digital inflection rigidometer, and shear wave elastography are also discussed in this chapter.
