摘要

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a prevalent condition that affects an increasing number of men worldwide. It is associated with substantial physical and psychological distress and can significantly impact the quality of life of affected individuals and their partners. Penile Doppler ultrasound has emerged as a valuable diagnostic tool in the evaluation of ED as it provides valuable insights into the underlying vascular and structural abnormalities contributing to the condition. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the clinical aspects of ED, serving as a valuable resource for clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals interested in understanding the clinical implications of ED as well as pitfalls related to the diagnosis and management of this condition. The goal is to provide an overview of the epidemiology and etiology of ED, exploring both organic and psychogenic causes. It also focuses on the clinical evaluation of patients with ED, discussing the importance of a comprehensive medical history, physical examination, and relevant complementary investigations.
