Interpretation and Clinical Implications of Penile Hemodynamic Parameters

This chapter discusses the crucial role of interpreting penile hemodynamic parameters obtained through PDU and explores their clinical implications in guiding diagnosis and treatment decisions. The most important parameters include peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV). A comprehensive understanding of these parameters is vital as they serve as key indicators of penile blood flow dynamics, reflecting the possible diagnosis of normal hemodynamics, arterial insufficiency, and cavernous veno-occlusive dysfunction (CVOD). The correlation between specific hemodynamic patterns and underlying pathophysiological mechanisms is emphasized, enabling clinicians to distinguish between organic and psychogenic causes of erectile dysfunction.
